Artist: Nashdale
Track: Whitewall Ford
Single: Whitewall Ford

Central Coast-based duo, Nashdale, comprising Kerryn Daniel and Brent Murphy, have have released their second single, Whitewall Ford, a song about heartbreak and the memories around a car.

The track had its beginnings with a chorus and pre-chorus Brent took to Kerryn and together they crafted the song while talking about Kerryn growing up in Orange, and around Nashdale, and the trail of exes that can linger in country towns.

It was important to the duo that Kerryn could sing lyrics that meant something to her. “Everyone has had a break-up,” says Kerryn. “This one will hit home for anyone who has lived through it.”

Produced by Brent in his home studio, Whitewall Ford is relatable, whether you’ve been the one who cheated or was cheated on. Brent laid down the guitars and bass, Ali Foster played the drums, and a Nashville musician brought the banjo lines to life. The song reflects Brent’s lifelong love of Fords—his first car was a Ford Prefect—and the nostalgia seeps through the sound as much as the lyrics.

As a duo, Kerryn and Brent have built a strong musical partnership on trust and share a common goal. “We both share the focus that it’s on the singer and the song,” says Brent. Kerryn says they knew how to make the songs real and true to her, as the singer. “Brent will bring in sketches of songs, and we’ll rework them together until they work for both of us.”
