Piper Butcher—
Newcastle’s Piper Butcher continues to up the ante as an artist of depth, integrity and precision on her new single, The Bullet.
For the release, Piper teams with fellow Novocastrian and one of the hottest names in Australian music, Austin Mackay. The pair, who have been firm friends for a while, co-wrote the track a couple of years ago. Pretty stoked with what they cooked up, Austin generously agreed to sing on the track if and when Piper planned to release it. A man of his word, the pair recently hit the studio with producer, Andy Mak and the result is stunning.
“Austin and I wrote the song while reminiscing on the sweet moments of a new relationship, when a truckload of feelings hit you blindly and blissfully, but you let them wash over you and take control,” laughs Piper. “Sometimes, it’s quite scary to let a new person into your life, but you’ll never know what beautiful experiences might lay ahead if you don’t let your walls down.”
With a dreamy soundscape reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac and Kasey Musgraves, the song is an upbeat and honest account of new love accompanied by an infectious chorus that hooks you instantly and draws you in.
“This is a song for the moment when you decide the only thing to focus on is being in the present and you accept it with open arms. It’s letting all those confronting, euphoric feelings wrap you in a blanket of love.”
